Ümloud! 2010 was AMAZING!!! [Gallery]

Ümloud 2010 was held in San Francisco’s DNA Lounge club last week and was an amazingly great time. The show ran from 7pm to 1am and featured back-to-back Rock Band 3 stage performances by local and out of town faux rockers.

One performer, a talented drummer from Chicago, named Eli “BACKBONE” stood out as a major highlight of the evening. Performing “Kings and Queens” by 30 Seconds to Mars, he played with amazing skill and stage presence. Chris Kohler, one of Ümloud’s founding members and the evening’s Master of Ceremonies, added “folks, he was playing notes that aren’t even in the game!”

Most of the groups went for high camp, like the German nihilists (Herr Nihil), the Lord of the Rings tribute band (It Comes In Pints), the Bioshock‘ers (Would You, Kindly) and of course a band made up of one mad scientist and five rampant man-sized lizards (Are You There God? It’s Me, Zilla).

Stage performances were offered for a $150 donation and the night’s VIP band, Broasis, paid a cool grand for the honor of being featured along with an overlong mockumentary piece produced by the talented folks at Area 5. If you like Rock Band, want to support Child’s Play and are within a reasonable travel distance from San Francisco you must come to Ümloud 2011.

Consider it both a challenge and a personal responsibility; I will see you there!
