Took ‘em Long Enough: Fallout New Vegas Patch Next Week for Xbox/PC, PS3 Right Now

I love New Vegas. Seriously, it’s like some beautiful drug that makes you feel really happy, but forces you to pause every ten seconds, crash once an hour, makes you lose your friends for ages and then deletes all your memory and makes you start you life all over again.

After a couple of months of being out, Bethesda have finally decided to do some testing of the buggiest game in existence and will be releasing a patch for it sometime in the next week for Xbox and Steam and ready on PS3 right now.

After the update your companion will have his/her/its own marker on the map, something I desperately need. Several times I’ve left Rose or Veronica hanging out in some obscure cave, unable to find them and thus unable to recruit any other followers. They’ll eventually go back to where they originated from but it takes ages.

There’s also various other changes, including to hardcore mode (no idea what that is specifically) as well as supposed fixes to “DLC error/save corruption”. There’s also bug fixes to quests that might’ve screwed up on you. You check the whole list on the Bethesda blog.

Hopefully having to do all this fixing will mean Bethesda will properly test their games in the future before selling them to customers for actual money. While I’ve avoided any save corruptions (I always make new saves anyway) it’s not really acceptable. Not that it’s stopped me playing for one second, mind. I don’t have a problem; I can stop any time I like.

Huzzah!

Brett Parsons Says:

Well, now I can start playing this game, finally. I’ve waited for all of the major bugs to get patched out before starting another 80 hour adventure in the future wastelands.

Jack Frost Says:

Crossing my fingers that they fixed the glitch that’s got me stuck…
