If this PSP2 thing is real (and it damn well should be), Sony had better make it good. With Apple’s iOS devices coming out of pretty much nowhere over the last couple years, even Nintendo is feeling a sharper sting than they ever have in terms of handheld competition. If Sony doesn’t come up with something amazing — and more importantly, original — I don’t see them staying in this game much longer.

That said, the PSP was (and still is) a sexy piece of hardware. Sony really just needs to stop making stupid marketing and pricing decisions and get their next system into people’s hands, along with some original (there’s that word again) content — not just ports and spin-offs of long-form games that are successful on the PS3.

Brett Parsons Says:

I’ve owned two PSPs and the silver PSP-3000 you pictured above is the same one I bought and still think is a major improvement over my launch PSP-1000. Better screen, more ram to speed up disc accessing and a light, sleek and sexy case. These days I’m still getting use out of it (see my review for Valkyria Chronicles II next week), but the system is far from perfect.

Dan Rosenthal Says:

Not gonna lie, I love the shit out of my PSP Go.
