ITV Producers Email CVG Asking For Addicted Gamers
After Panorama’s foray into videogame addiction on Monday night, ITV seems to be looking to jump on the bandwagon. A producer for ITV 1′s Lorraine (as in Lorraine Kelly) contacted CVG to help them find gamers who could be used in the show.
CVG promptly published the email (initially along with the show’s email address) which said they were looking for “a specific case study for a segment on the show titled ‘Lorraine Investigates’” and asked CVG to post in their forums that they were looking for people to come forward. The description read:
“Either a teenager or the parents of a child or teenager whose education or relationships with their family have suffered due to the amount of time they spend on computer games, or a teenager or the parents of a child or teenager who has acted aggressively or violent towards another person, as a suspected result of playing violent video games.”
Obviously this means that they’ll find a horribly addicted gamer and use that as evidence for their suggestion that videogames are more addictive than other forms of entertainment. I imagine this news cycle will continue for the next few weeks, with each mainstream media source pushing their own programmes out.
Stupidly, CVG didn’t redact the producer’s email address (pretty common sense considering the trollish nature of the web) and so were contacted by the woman again who said that they “don’t seem to be getting a very friendly response.”

Please note an open offer to email Lorraine’s people at the end. [We've since removed this at ITV's request. However, you can still reach the show on: talk2us@itv.com]
And you’re calling CVG stupid?
@UglyDuck: I’m not sure I follow you, but they had the woman’s private work email address listed, that’s the show’s publicly available one.
CVG pasted the email verbatim, as per instruction. The address listed was the one they expected candidates to e-mail. It was removed at the request of ITV, and replaced with a public one.
