Nukezilla Review: Hector – Badge of Courage, Episode 1 (iOS)

It’s no secret the iPhone (iOS) app store is littered with shovelware fart applications and one-hit-wonder mini games. So it was with great surprise when provided a review code for Hector: Badge of Courage (Episode 1: We Negotiate With Terrorists) I received a game of such a high level of quality and filthy humor.

In form, Hector is a classic point and click adventure game with a uniquely British combination of dark comedy and vulgarity. As a perfect example of what you can expect, the solution to the first puzzle includes a used condom, a paperclip and a toilet bowl full of human waste. The writing is excellent and the dialog, which is fully voiced, is highlighted by Hector’s consistently vitriolic quips and the unguilded natterings of the denizens of Clappers Wreake. The presentation of Clappers Wreake (think Manchester post-2012 Lib-Dem. social apocalypse) is a spot-on satirical take on a downtrodden modern British suburb.

Any fan of adventure games or perverted comedy will be well served for their measly $3.99 (US) with this fantastic app store gem.

This review is Day 7 of the December Review Nukestravaganza.

Disclosure: We receieved a review code from the developer.
