Dragon’s Lair Announced for PS3 and PSP

According to a 720p trailer released during yesterday’s PSN update, it seems that PlayStation 3 and PSP owners will soon be able to play the 1983 arcade classic (not the notoriously bad NES one) Dragon’s Lair. According to Pixel Perfect Gaming‘s article, the PSN port of Dragon’s Lair will include all of the original arcade scenes as well as a global high-score board.

Dragon’s Lair follows Dirk the Daring as he travels through the dragon Singe’s castle in order to save his love, Princess Daphne. It’s standard damsel-in-distress fare, but Dragon’s Lair stands as one of the earliest examples of a quick-time event game. Dragon’s Lair is also well known for having high quality animation, courtesy of Don Bluth, to help flesh out the experience.

Publisher Digital Leisure has been responsible for a majority of the game’s ports since 1995, and their recent role as developer in the last two years has yielded the iPhone, iPad and Wii ports. There has been no word of exact release date or price.
