Ubisoft Offers Free DLC for PS3 Users
Apparently, Ubisoft has a deep love for either PS3 gamers or Sony’s marketing budget. Recall last month, when I reviewed the PS3-only beta for the upcoming Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood‘s multiplayer. Now Ubisoft has announced free Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood DLC, exclusively for the PS3 console.
Titled “The Copernicus Conspiracy”, the DLC involves Ezio guarding the astronomer Copernicus (and his scientific pursuits) from the corrupt Vatican, who wish him destroyed. Quick history lesson: Copernicus is the guy responsible for postulating that the sun does not revolve around the Earth, but the other way around. Not a great thing to be saying in sixteenth century Europe.
“The Copernicus Conspiracy” will be available for download from the PlayStation Store on the day of the game’s launch, November 16. No word on whether it will be seamlessly integrated into the game (as DeathSpank: Thongs of Virtue‘s was) or simply another DNA memory to load after completing the game (as Assassin’s Creed II‘s was).
My Soapbox Moment: Personally, I’m not a huge fan of console-exclusive stuff. Entire games are one matter, but system-exclusive DLC? Come on.
