This week’s wallpaper was created by taking a shot of the Lugia figure that came with GameStop preorders of Pokémon SoulSilver. I also have the Ho-Oh statue (which I should probably return to my friend at some point) so expect to see that show up in this feature soon.

I’ve been a Pokémon fan ever since the day Red and Blue launched (I got Blue, because it’s better duh). That’s not to say that I’m blind to the fact that it’s the same game over and over again, and I’ve only really played three of them to completion (Blue, Silver and SoulSilver). For some reason though, every time a new one comes out I feel compelled to pick it up and play for at least a few hours. Maybe it’s to see whether they’d made any major changes to the formula yet. More likely, it’s because something about that unchanged formula just feels familiar enough to bring me back to middle school, sitting on the steps with my friends and battling.

Pokémon may not change things up often — if ever — but now that I think about it, maybe that’s not such a bad thing.
