Borderlands GOTY Comes With Early Duke Nukem Access

Grearbox Studios has been pretty busy. Apart from the release of last year’s crowd-pleasing Borderlands (and its bevy of DLC) they’ve been working on the never-say-die Duke Nukem Forever. Now they’re looking to combine both games with a new deal.

On October 12th the Borderlands Game of The Year Edition will be released. Comprising the game and all four pieces of DLC (including the newly-released Claptrap’s New Robot Revolution), it joins the ranks of other great GOTY editions recently released. Surprisingly buyers will get something else to look forward to.

Similar to Crackdown‘s Halo 3 Beta offer, Borderlands GOTY will come with a Duke Nukem Forever First Access Club pass. From Gearbox’s press release:

This certificate entitles owners who register their unique key to a wealth of goodies, including early access to a sneak peek of the legendary, long-awaited video game - Duke Nukem Forever. Entry into this exclusive club will provide fans with the earliest possible admittance to the Duke Nukem Forever playable demo and more. When the demo releases prior to the retail launch of the game, this select group of First Access Club members will be the first to play it and experience the life of the King of All Shooters. Hail to the King, baby!

If you, like me, have waited to buy Borderlands until its Game of The Year edition is released, you’ve got another great reason to pick this up. Unfortunately, those that have bought Borderlands will get the raw end of this deal, as the press release says nothing of early access for those that already bought the game. It’s up to those individuals if early Duke Nukem access is worth another $60.

No. It’s not. Dicks.

I hate when companies do this. Oh hey I bought your game when it came out and I’ve purchased every extra piece of content you’ve put out, but no it’s okay you can give the goodies to the people who still haven’t picked up your product.

Bought Borderlands on the PC but without the DLC. Tempting, very tempting…

Everything that needs to be said has already been said by Hans and Justin :(
