Christopher Nolan Looking at Inception Videogame “in the Long-term”
Speaking to Variety, Dark Knight and Inception director Christopher Nolan brought up the possibility of a videogame based on this summer’s mind-bending dream movie.
“One thing we are looking at doing is developing a videogame based on the world of the film, which has all kinds of ideas that you can’t fit into a feature film,” said Nolan. He continued: “That’s something we’ve been talking about and are looking at doing long-term, in a couple of years.”
“I did always intend for this film to give a mass audience a really entertaining experience. But my fear with the film was always that it would be misinterpreted as being overly cerebral or puzzle-like,” he said.
Let’s be clear, he didn’t say it was an actual thing, but it’s potentially quite cool that he’s thinking about videogames as a medium to expand his story onto. Inception was certainly a great movie and if you combined that with certain elements of the interaction in games (think Bioshock etc.) you could get some very interesting results. The idea of different levels, dreams and 4th wall interactions are all things that could work very well in a videogame. As he says though, this isn’t something that’s coming out tomorrow so let’s not get too excited. (Also he’s working on Batman 3 so that should be good. Or, you know, shit).
Anyway, Wardrox predicted this would happen back in July and wrote a rather awesome post on the subject, which I suggest you read. G O D E E P E R.

Note: I can’t find the full Variety story online, annoyingly. I assume it’s print-only. Old media sucks.
