Telltale Teases New Crossover Game
Last night, Geoff Keighley hinted that a new Telltale Games teaser trailer would be aired on GameTrailers TV. With recent reports of both Back to the Future and Jurassic Park games in the making, plus a strong demand for a new Tales of Monkey Island (it’s really not just me) as well as a likely fourth season of Sam & Max, I couldn’t have been more excited. My excitement was quickly dashed… sort of.
I think we’re getting a poker game. More to the point, a crossover poker game, featuring Tycho from Penny Arcade, a Heavy from Team Fortress, Strong Bad, and Max from Sam & Max.
This is just my (logical) speculation, of course, but it’s clear in the provided image that at least one (Heavy) if not two (Tycho) or indeed all of them (Strong Bad’s boxing gloves are as mysterious as ever and who knows where Max stashes his inventory) are holding cards. And if it is indeed a card game, I can’t imagine it would be anything other than poker.
A little digging will show that Telltale made a Texas Hold’em game in the past, so this isn’t new territory for the studio. The previous game (Telltale Texas Hold’em, naturally) is a straightforward card game laced liberally with humor. It’s quite possible that Telltale’s new game is a simple rehash, using context- and game-specific humor with these licensed characters.
Alternatively, it could be indicative of some sort of insane card-based battle system in what could be a crazy but potentially awesome game. Though, my money’s on Texas Hold’em.
The teaser promises we’ll find out something new on September 2, which is incidentally the day before PAX. I suppose it’s a good thing some of Nukezilla’s own will be there to shed some more light on Telltale’s mystery. One way or another, Telltale, I’m going to follow you on this crazy ride, and wonder if this is more than we’re all assuming.

That’s weird, I thought the developers of Deathspank had the Penny Arcade license. And the PA guys said to Joystiq in an interview that there wasn’t going to be another PA game ’cause it was too much work on their part (or something).
Also, Fake and Gay.
