Chime Coming to Steam With New “Still Alive” Level
I loved (and continue to love to this day) Chime when I reviewed it a few months ago. The new spin on music and puzzle games is a delight to see and hear, and I find myself continually going back to it. Soon I’ll have a new platform to play it on: Chime is coming to Steam.
Adding to the long line of incredible Steam puzzle games (like Lumines and Audiosurf), Chime will be released on the platform September 6th. If this was just a straight port I’d recommend it as a day-one purchase. But this version will come with an added bonus: a “Still Alive” puzzle board! Valve “donated” the song to Zoë Mode to use in the game. Now sure you’re probably sick of hearing that song, but come on: it’s a new board for the relatively-small title. It’s hard to dislike that news.
There’s also a bit of strange info to go with this announcement. Zoë Mode, if you recall, is a part of the One Big Game charity initiative. Originally 60% of the game’s profits went to the Save the Children and Starlight Children’s Foundation charities. The Steam release is only donating 5% of its total to One Big Game. I’m not sure what the reason for this is just yet. Still, If you have Steam and have not experienced Chime, you owe it to yourself to take a look at it when it’s released next week.
