That Blog I Liked Calls it Quits

Update: What a drama queen, he’s back.

It took the better part of three months to go from new kid on the block to calling it quits. It’s hard not to be mean when somebody doing something good decides it’s too much work. But to do anything other than praise the efforts of Mr. Paddon and his Game Journalists Are Incompetent Fuckwits blog would, well… what a cock end.

I mean, seriously. What an awesome idea, and what a fantastically depressing example of the phases nearly all blogs go through. First there’s the naivete and the excitement. People you’ve only ever seen in glass boxes suddenly react. You can do it, you can change the blogs! Then comes the slog. You’re working hard, but the spark is fading. Why don’t they love you!? But wait, you can bring them back, update faster, talk about things that get reactions, they’re back! We’re doing it again! And now that the self-confidence is at an all time high and you are a God amongst bloggers, fix everything!

And nothing changes then you get fed up.

Then, you either rename your website and decide to do more walking of the walk and less talking of the talk, or you come up with a bunch of crappy excuses (not for the first time) and fade away.

To answer the title of GJAIF’s final-ish post, “I think I’ve made my point, don’t you?”: Yes, but I don’t think enough people heard. You were on to a winner, a border-line important winner (at least to some of us). And whilst it annoys me no end you’re stopping, it was rather glorious while it lasted. Good job. The graphics were good. The gameplay was good. Plot seemed to be cut short at the end, but was good. 7/10.

You could always see if he’s up for doing a regular feature on here.

Nah, he’s posting again. Maybe he just did that goodbye post for attention, or maybe what you said actually got to him.

Five guesses as to which one was right. :P

Good riddens. What’s the point of complaining about gaming journalism and refusing to do nothing about it?
