Disney Acquires iPhone Dev Tapulous

Tap Tap Revenge creator Tapulous has been bought by Disney, in a move to further expand the company’s gaming arm. Tapulous has been hugely successful selling games for the iPhone and iPod Touch, as well as the new iPad. Disney claims that Guitar-Hero-for-iPhone, Tap Tap Revenge is installed on 30% of iPod Touches and iPhones.

Disney have said that they will be “integrating their popular games into Disney’s offerings”, with Tapulous developer Bart Decrem saying that they will be able to “more quickly realise our vision to lead the mobile, social entertainment revolution.”

Disney has been pushing to further expand its game development portfolio, with new titles including Epic Mickey shown at E3 and the newly released Split/Second. Tapulous seems like a great company to go for, and they’ve had pretty amazing success. Considering the age of the company; founded in early 2008, they’ve done quite well for themselves, with income of nearly $1 million a month back in December 2009.
