Wardrox VS Halfleft Battledrome Round 16: Frets on Fire

Wardrox’s turn to pick the game this week. For some mad reason he’s chosen Frets on Fire, a game which is essentially a Guitar Hero clone for the PC/Mac/Linux. I consider his choice strange considering how familiar it seems.

The gimmick is that the game is played with the keyboard being held as though it was a guitar, the F1-F5 keys acting as the fret buttons and the return key serving as the strum button. The gameplay in Frets on Fire is very similar to that of other guitar rhythm games and doesn’t really need explaining.

Frets on Fire can be downloaded for free here and the song we will be playing is one of the three available upon install, so there’s no need to add more.

Bang Bang Mystery Man is the song Wardrox chose, on any difficulty. Highscores are saved in the game so be sure to take the time and get the best you possibly can. Post your scores in the comments section of this post and the most impressive ones will be discussed on the next ‘”live season finale’” NGCast.

For some reason, my computer can’t run that game at anything above about 1 fps, which is odd considering that I can run Crysis fairly easily. Were it not for this issue, I would probably have had fun with the game, and kicked both your asses. Shame.
