Hopefully this is just some cruel joke, but according to Reuters Sony has bought the rights to make a Rollercoaster Tycoon movie. I can’t even begin to imagine what kind of half-assed plot they’d begin to squeeze out of Rollercoaster Tycoon ‘” or can I?

Some <insert medium here>-to-film conversions work fairly well, at least to the point where they’re enjoyable by people who’ve seen the work in its original form. The recent Kick-Ass film, for example, cleaned up a lot of what the messy, in-your-face comic book seemed to just throw at you like an angry woman throwing her drink at you after you make some lewd comments that offended her. There are other works, like the recent Street Fighter movie, you know, the one you tried to forget about? Yeah, sometimes they don’t work out so great.

It baffles me why someone would even consider buying the rights for Rollercoaster Tycoon, although it’s not the first time we’ve seen similar idiocy. It’s like saying “Hey, you know what would make a great movie? Civilization!” Then again though, the Clue movie is… watchable. Kind of.

“like an angry woman throwing her drink at you after you make some lewd comments that offended her.”

I can only guess that’s the voice of experience talking?
