CoD: Black Ops Getting Dedicated Servers on PC

Activision’s Call of Duty franchise b-team Treyarch might have just won themselves some new fans among PC gamers. In an interview with PC Zone Treyarch studio head Mark Lamia has apparently said he sees dedicated servers making a return in the next installment of the series, this fall’s Call of Duty: Black Ops.

“I think dedicated servers are excellent,” said Lamia. “I don’t see any reason not to see them unless… well, I just don’t see any reason not to.”

This is great news for Activision, as the seemingly last minute announcement to cut dedicated servers from Modern Warfare 2 led to petitions, piracy, and more negative press than even the controversial “No Russian” level could drum up. This move could even win over some series fans who were less than impressed by Call of Duty 3 and World at War.

The quotes come from a promotional item on CVG for PC Zone so the context of what was said isn’t currently known.

This seems an awful lot like congratulating the thick kid who never does his homework, for the one time he brings in something scrawled on a sheet of lined paper. Sure, he’s trying, but it’s expected that this stuff happens.
