Wardrox’s Vlog 4th April: Heat Maps, Mugs And About The Author

I’ve made a mental note to try to talk about fewer things with more detail for next time. As I say in the vid if you have any feedback about any of the changes made recently, positive or negative, then it’s very much appreciated.

Hawkeyed One Says:

Hey john, comment on the site. How come you don’t have someone like Jim Sterling writing for the staff/why don’t you get Phil to write more outrageously caustic articles?

Aaron "Wheaty" Says:

Doin some coursework, eatin some candy, might take a nap.

Scratch that, definitely taking a nap.

Mikular Says:

*sigh* You are not watering down, you are becoming a quality gaming blog (as if I speak with any authority on the subject). Truth be told, I got a bit tired of the whole “every major blog is being paid off and all developers only care about money” vibe present in the early days of NG. I’m glad to see its focus on genuine bullshit that people know to be bullshit (ie. Ubisoft DRM, Chris Everiss vs. Evony), instead of writing up furious posts about things that aren’t really all that bad.

Lighten up, you’re doing a fine job. This is not “DepressedGamer”, not everything needs to wallow in the miserable and the inconvenient. If it followed that line, any attempt at creating a vibrant community from that depression would be pretty much useless, and as far as I can see, the community is strong in this blog.

P Marsh Says:

I’m pretty sure I’m that little blue blotch in the south west area of Canada. I know of no one other than myself who reads this site here but there may be more.

wardrox Says:

@Hawkeyed One: It depends what you mean when you say a writer like Jim.

@Mikular: that’s good to know :)

@Hawkeyed One:
“staff/why don’t you get Phil to write more outrageously caustic articles”

YOU’LL GET WORDS WHEN I’M READY TO GIVE YOU WORDS! *Insert Bill Murray impression in Where The Buffalo Roam* ;)

we’re seeing some great work here on the site, despite being completely fucking wrong about Uncharted 2 and on-disc DLC, Peter has written some great pieces, Sam has a phenomenal handle on all-the-news-that’s-fit-to-post, Dan is a great writer and has brought the calibre up, Wex is just damn sexy, Aaron is a twisted fuck but awesome, Justin is pure genius and Gavin…um well, actually when you think about Gavin is a cunt that really is holding us back. ;)

Aaron "Wheaty" Says:

@Philbart999: 1270092254275.jpg Twisted, you say?

CtMythic Says:

The only gripe I have about NG is a lack of reviews of, for lack of a better phrase, “Full Price” games. You did say that you are poor and can’t afford them, but It would probably be a worthwhile investment. That kinda’ thing brings traffic, and I quite often think “It would be cool to hear an NG editors opinion on this” when I run into a shit thing in a game. Even if rather than a “proper” review you did a weekly aggregation of the community reviews with a smaller write-up and score by an editor it would be a nice feature to see.

wardrox Says:

@CtMythic: I 100% agree. Though the money situation is the current hurdle. I don’t think anyone on staff can afford to buy many new games, and the return on investment isn’t quite there yet. I used to live near a blockbuster and rent new games, but sadly don’t any more.

There’s a couple of ays around it in my mind; one is for us to start doing more “demo impressions”. Where a writer basically gives an opinion on the game’s demo, nice and cheap.

The second is, as you say, to have a weekly round up of community reviews. This is something I will be doing, once there are more cReviews going up.

Once I’m settled in where I’m living, or at least which continent, for a while I’ll be getting an netflix/lovefilm account, and should then get more of the latest games. I may be back in Manchester after summer, so will be revisiting my old Blockbuster :)

@Peter “SurplusGamer” Silk: That’s the best video comment I have ever watched.

nahsuda04 Says:

Epic smile at the end Wardrox! And also i’d like to add my vote that the site is great, well constructed and well edited. Also negativegamer as an entity is thought-provoking and highly entertaining. But it could use more dinosaurs. So only 4.5 stars out of 5. And you should also be severely reprimanded for telling us about Open Transport Tycoon….so much time wasted, so much..

MrBRAD! Says:

heehee I’m 2 of the Brisbane, Australia visitors :3

MrBRAD! Says:

I really like the site, has a very cozy “little guy” feel while at the same time being really awesome quality. Quality that isn’t wasted on lame copy-pasted news and reviews and retains itself for the stuff that we can’t get anywhere else. If I want a review of MW2 I could go to any 1000′s of other sites. Here, I get magnanimousness.

(I’ve added 2x NG mugs and 1x t-shirt to my extensive list of things to get once my PayPal quits hatin’ on my bank account. I’ll try to get that set up by the end of the week.)

Wex Says:

@Philbart999: After showing my interview to some friends, I was told I have that “Pro Gravitas”, and now you’re telling me I’m sexy? Damn, don’t inflate my ego too much :P@

Peter “SurplusGamer” Silk: SO. GOOD.

nahsuda04 Says:

What?? I’m the only dot in Bharatpur Nepal? Although if i told a friend to go online we could DOUBLE the viewers in Nepal!…..Holy crap people, 5 people are logged on in the middle of the ocean, with no location available! Look just left of Africa, what is that??
