PAX East Breach Code Thief Posted Bail, is Missing
Videogame developers, you might want to keep a watchful eye over any copies of code you happen to have lying around; a code thief is on the loose! If you haven’t heard already; earlier this weekend at PAX East someone was arrested for attempting to steal code for Breach, the newest release from Atomic Games. The culprit, one Justin D. May, had staked out Atomic’s booth all day and sprung into action when a booth worker went to the bathroom.
May hooked up his laptop to one in the booth with the code on it. He managed to download 14MB of the game (around 0.7% of the total game) before an Atomic employee came over to see what he was up to. After being asked to turn the laptop off and hand it over, May instead unplugged the laptop and ran for the hills. Luckily the Atomic employee and another from the booth sprang into action, performing a pincer-like maneuver to stop the fleeing May. They caught him right before he made it to the escalator.
After being detained by Hynes Convention Center security, May was questioned by police. During questioning May apparently seemed to be aloof of the proceedings, joking with the officers. When asked if he knew where he was, he replied PAX, but wondered if saying something else would’ve let him leave. He also offered officers $100 if they “got [him] out of this”. He also explicitly said he stole the game, only so that he was going to play it with his friends.
As if the story couldn’t get any stranger, May is now missing. He posted bail of $200 at the police station he was taken to and was told to show up for arraignment in the Boston Municipal Court this morning. He apparently didn’t show. If you happen to see or know of this horrible game-larcenist, see if he wants to hang out. He may have some cool unreleased games on him:

Ugh. Am I the only only one who thinks he looks like a serial rapist? His features are too small for that giant melon.
