Yesterday, Rockstar Games released a statement that their episodic cash cow, historically referred to as GTA Episodes From Liberty City will be delayed another two weeks before dropping for PS3 and PC owners. A ‘œlast minute game submission’ has been identified as the reason behind the delay. While this is galling enough for PS3 fans, seeing as it was the PS2′s install base and popularity that helped make Rockstar what they are today, a perusal of the comments on Rockstar’s site show that it’s the PC owners who seem to be most vocal at this point. Many of the PC-centric views quite rightly question why there would be any delay on their version.
Frankly, seeing as Microsoft funded these episodes in the form of $50 million, years ago, this just feels like another slap in the face for PS3 and PC fans of the franchise. One can obviously understand Rockstar gargling Microsoft’s financial load, but this delay just smacks of a combination of arrogance and stupidity. Personally I loved GTA IV on my PS3…a long time ago. Considering the PS3 exclusives that have dropped recently and the press they have garnered, it will be interesting to see if this affects sales of the episodes.
GTA Episodes From Liberty City will release for PS3 and PC on April 13th in North America and April 16th in Europe.

I wonder how well these will sell. I must admit that other games have really show in the last year how dated GTA’s feels.
I think the ball has been dropped on GTA DLC a few times now. Even when the Lost and Damned came out, GTAIV was out of the spotlight. Maybe Rockstar and Microsoft thought GTAIV would still have a large audience for a longer period of time, seeing that it had multiplayer.
Plus, if they’re both still priced at $20, I’d imagine most gamers would rather just put that $40 towards something newer or better.
Either way, I think the PS3 and PC communities aren’t missing out on much.
I need to get those MP trophies in GTA 4.
Hey phil you wanna gargle some GTA 4 online?
@darkwhitehair: I would have loved to man, but I sold that puppy. :(
