Ubisoft’s Servers Under Attack For The Second Day

Not content with making all Ubisoft games that come with their new DLC unplayable for one Sunday afternoon, some ne’er-do-wells have “attacked” Ubisoft’s servers again, causing a second day of trouble. Announcing the news via their twitter, the company admitted their “servers are under attack again. Some gamers are experiencing trouble signing in”.

With the admittance that this isn’t, as previously claimed, simply “exceptional demand” questions are now being asked as to the identity and motivation of the assumed hackers. All signs indicate there is some form of DDoS attack taking place, which could spell almost certain doom for the DRM route Ubisoft have chosen. The current system requires your game to contact their DRM servers, however if their DRM servers are offline or can’t be reached (if they are under DDoS attack, for example) it’s bad-news-bears all round.

If you’re wondering what this whole business looks like from the hacker’s perspective it’s probably something like this:

There, their, they’re. Different words, please learn how to use them.

wardrox Says:

@me: I hate the internet when it corrects spelling mistakes in my articles a 4 year old wouldn’t make.

Spelling corrected, I’m shamed forever.

Jeff Says:

I hate the internet when it’s damn near impossible to find working streams/clips of movies online that I can view without downloading on my iPhone (so no Hulu; and yes, it’s jailboroken) and yet there’s a 10-goddamn-minute chunk of Hackers just right there on Youtube. The RIAA curbstomps soccer moms taking Polaroids of their toddler’s birthday party because there’s a Beatles song playing on the radio of a passing car and the essence of the song slips in all steganography like into the picture, making mom an infringer. If Jesus came back tomorrow, the day after that the MPAA would be in court arguing that his public appearances constitute infringement of Mel Gibson’s copyright. They would then ask for a $15,000 fine for each time Jesus opened his mouth in public (to recover lost sales of PotC DVDs) in the past, and injunctions on all future prayers, homilies, and/or miracles.

How is it that they decide to be lax all of a sudden about this shit, and they pick “Hackers” of all things? That movie sucked when it came out and it’s a million times worse now. I honestly can’t guarantee that if 19 year-old Angelina Jolie shows her tits, that it would have saved that trainwreck, and 19 year-old Angelina Jolie’s breasts could give positive spin to genocide.

So screw you, whoever screwed this one up, for not having it be Citizen Kane, or hell, Dirty Work, that’s slipped through the cracks. Instead, you bring us Sick Boy, the douchebag from Swimfan, and Matthew goddamn Lillard. If I knew where you lived, I’d kick you in the teeth.

P Marsh Says:

Well its fun to see an idea from someone who clearly doesn’t understand the internet get publicly shot down. I love watching this slow downward spiral PC gaming is becoming, its like watching something burn, morbidly beautiful.

In summation. HACK THE PLANET!

Kaecyus Says:

@P Marsh: THEY’RE TRASHING THE FLOW OF DATA! THEY’RE TRASHING! TRASHIIIING!

ouched Says:

Oh, just download the crack if you made the mistake of being a consumer that has allowed themselves to be treated like criminals.

Keep on burning, DRM servers. Your continued existence is an abomination.

erotic nerd Says:

I forgot got ridiculous Hackers is.

ryuken Says:

@Jeff: you just made my day, ha! crash and burn!!!! btw just watch foxfire angelina boobage all the way
