Alan Wake For PC Canned
After what seems like a lifetime since Alan Wake was first announced, (E3 2005, in case your memory has degraded since then) developer Remedy Entertainment has announced that Alan Wake will no longer be shipping on the PC.
The PC version was put on hold in mid-2009, with Remedy stating that they wanted to focus on the Xbox version and that Microsoft, the publisher, would make the final decision about the PC version.
Microsoft said that they felt Alan Wake will be better suited for ‘œthe couch in front of a large TV screen’, rather than the ‘œintimacy of the PC’. Obvious bullshit; if the publisher was left to decide the fate of the version, it was clearly because they didn’t think it would sell, not about artistic preference. The spokesperson continued to say that ‘œWe ultimately realised that the most compelling way to experience Alan Wake was on the Xbox 360 platform.’
PC gamers who have been waiting five years for this hyped title are entitled to feel slightly annoyed. While we’ve not seen a great deal of Alan Wake, the premise of an open-world, psychological thriller seems impressive. But you’d better buy an Xbox if you want to enjoy this title. Convenient, eh?

Wait, they didn’t say it was piracy? Something is not right here…
Oh. I guess I can’t plug my PC into my TV and use a controller, obviously.
Oh for fuck sake. I doubt that I will get this now.
Alan Wake is my Duke Nukem Forever. I was never really interested in the PC version (Didn’t even know there was one) but if the 360 version is anything less than incredible we should probably burn Remedy to the ground.
