Careful Where You Save; Another BioShock 2 Game-Ending Bug Found

With all this morning’s talk of BioShock 2‘s bugs and lack of attention to colour-blind gamers I decided to spend a few more hours back in Rapture before lunch. Sadly, after loading up my most recent save I found I was unable to use the left-trigger. As those who have played BioShock 2 will know that meant I am now unable to use plasmids.

Worse, as with the music glitch, rebooting the 360 and reloading the save made no difference. The trigger works fine in all other saves. Thankfully I did have another save  from only half an hour ago. If I had been saving in the same slot over and over again, as many people do, then I would be in trouble.

I assume, again as with the music glitch, it would fix itself when I pass from level to level, but this bug occurred whilst half-way through an area. I can hardly see myself being able to reach the end with most of my arsenal out of action. Or at least not without skipping large portions of the map.

This happened to me a few times while going through the PC version. Sometimes my plasmids got locked and I couldn’t use them. Changing plasmid and changing back fixed it though.

Still, it was annoying for it to happen while I was fighting a Big Daddy.

wardrox Says:

@okänd: I tried changing back to other plasmids but still no luck :( Still, not too much time was lost, so it’s not game breaking for me.

CoamIthra Says:

Two reasons to get games late: reduced prices and reduced bugs!

ParaParaKing Says:

Just don’t save in strange places. I experienced no bugs at all playing the PS3 version.

Hopefully all those bugs will be dealt with soon, since it’s a pretty fun game.

Weston R Says:

Interacting with a little sister [picking up to rescue or putting down to gather adam from a corpse] fixes it.

Kyle Says:

yea ive had this problem too and it has happend to me several times and even more than ever tonight ive had this happen three times in about 10 minutes or less and its really pissing me off my plasmid hand is out of veiw and i cant switch plasmids or hold LB to bring up the wheel but ive found that when the game loads it works again like when your sent back to the vita chamber, pick up a little sister or advance through to a new level and it seems like this started when i got the scout tonic and im wondering if its the same for you?

mike Says:

I’ve had problems since last night. I turned off Vita Chambers, because I never was a big fan of thought that I could just pound away in a battle without tactic or sacrificing health kits, and just keep coming back after dying and the enemies would still be dead.

So, I turned off the VC’s last night, and immediately saved my game right before the first ADAM harvest/splicer attack. I wound up dying, only to find out that it didn’t really save my game! I got sent back to my last save (right before the Big Daddy battle), and I wondered if I had forgotten to save it. Well, I made sure that I saved this time (in a new slot), won the splicer battle/ADAM harvest, but then died a little bit afterward. AGAIN, it sent me back to the Big Daddy battle…wtf?? Am I doing something wrong here? Can you only save in certain spots with VC’s off?

Herbdout Says:

This happens to me whenever I use the fire plasmid in the PC version. My hand looks frozen, but if I pick up a little sister it works again, just once and then freezes up again. If I bring the gun up to aim my hand completely vanishes and only come back if I die. Try to pick up a little sister when you cannot see your left hand and the game will lock up. You can only fix it by dying.

ritterjcat Says:

I got that silly plasmid bug, too. It happened to me during the final battle which made it a bit tougher. It seemed to occur when I tried to switch plasmids really quickly after firing one. Fortunately, I had lots of rocket spears which are not only effective but hilarious, too!

Newbcaek Says:

I got this bug too last night and I only seemed to notice it after I got the Scout plasmid and used it a couple of times. Now even when I put down a little sister I can only use plasmids a couple of times before I lose them again when I try to aim my gun. Needless to say not being able to use plasmids at all ruins the game and just turns it into another boring shooter. Not to mention alot of the fights require you to use plasmids.

So back on the shelf b/c I’ve tried to load previous saved games and it still does it. Just wait for a patch hopefully from 2k games.

@ParaParaKing:
Has nothing to do with save location. it happens to a lot of people… I’ve seen it on all three platforms

Black Says:

PS3 Version was crisp. No complaints. Beat it twice now with zero problems.

Dhruv Says:

What scary picture you have right underneath your name. I see a big sister holding a little sister’s hand, who I think is yelling, but who is the creepy woman that is holding the wall? And where did you find this picture?

Ryan Says:

I am having a problem with the pc version when i go to the menu to save the options are gone and my game is lost as if i just started up and had not been playing at all. Anyone else have this problem?
