Console Marketplace “Ready” For Christian Games
By Chris Dow on Tuesday, January 26th 2010
Inspired Media Entertainment, creators of electrifying, monotheistic IP’s like Left Behind: Eternal Forces, Tribulation Forces and the endearingly titled Charlie Church Mouse have announced in their annual investor note that they hope to shift focus from PC gaming to Xbox 360 and Wii development. Claiming that the “marketplace appears to be ready for more Christian games”, Inspired Media talked up their own pre-Christmas sales, citing Walmart title sell-outs as the changing tide in Christian gaming acceptance.
As gaming expands, it’s perhaps inevitable that certain niche genres will grow from the largely self-published PC domain to home consoles. However, it’s difficult to base the potential for console success on the sales of a handful of low-run Jesus-em-ups. Surely the creators of such “pure” entertainment will only suffer with the sin of sharing shelf space and “2 for £19.99″ stickers with Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers?
Still, in positivity, here’s hoping for an all out sales battle this coming holiday between the next bloody iteration of Call of Duty and Charlie Church Mouse 2: Church Harder.
