[NGR] Brits Wasted Over £3 Billion On Video Games Last Year

Millions of UK children have squandered their money on pointless entertainment, it was revealed yesterday.

Massive waste?

The British public bought 74.6 million games – a number larger than the population of the UK, if you don’t count the immigrants.

“I’m extremely worried by these figures,” an extremely worried source told NGR.

“£3 billion sounds like an awful lot of cash, especially if you write it out with all the zeros and everything. Shouldn’t people be spending their money on important things, like cigarettes and lottery tickets?”

Using maths, NGR has calculated that £3 billion is indeed an awful lot of cash: it’s slightly more than £2 billion, but less than £4 million.

That same money could have bought nearly 20 billion tins of Tesco Value tomatoes, or paid for at least one banker’s bonus.

The news follows news that the videogame industry is on the verge of financial collapse, leading this reporter to believe that someone somewhere is lying.

Simon Cowell, who has nothing to do with videogames, allegedly said “I don’t know why people keep spending money on videogames. Wouldn’t they rather give their money to me? This is worse than Rage Against The Machine.”
