More Than Half of American PSP’s Are Owned by Girls
According to data from Nielson, most of the people in America who own a PSP also own a pair of X chromosomes. They say, via a fun-packed fact sheet, that the percentage of PSP owners that are female is 52%. That’s something I find quite surprising.
Sadly I think you have to pay to get the actual breakdown in ages of the gamers they questioned, or any details of what the game is. For all we know it could be 16 million 12 year olds playing the Hannah Montana game.
I asked Chelsea about it, who worked at Best Buy selling Sony stuff over Christmas. She said “I think I only had one pair of girls come in and ask for a PSP the entire time”. However, Chelsea says, often PSP’s are bought by Mums for their sons, so perhaps this is what the Nielson data is on about?
