I completed writing up and handing in my dissertation last September. I would have shared it sooner but due to not wanting the automatic plagiarism detector to flag me up, and me not having a copy of the final thing when I went to the US, it’s taken until now (the day of my graduation (I got a “pass”)) for me to share it with you.
So, here you go, the dissertation for my Masters Degree in Advanced Computer Science;
Simple Robotic Evolution to Find Optimum Organism Attributes (pdf)
Let me know what you think, there are graphs and everything.

WORRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRDDDDDDSSSSSSSSSSSS
At least it has pictures, 11/10
Shit this looks deep.
I’m like 20 pages in and enjoying it, even the parts I don’t entirely understand.
So do you have letters after your name now, and if so, are you going to put them at the end of your posts?
Because that would help cement the reputation of NG as a site for clever people who are smart
It’s set in Times New Roman? How pedestrian. I would’ve failed it.
tl;dr
Looks awesome though A+++++ would read again.
@jymkata: yup, I’m now John Kershaw Bsc Msc
@Samit Sarkar: I went with the standard. I can re-render it in comic sans for you if you would prefer?
Looks interesting, I’ll read it when I’m done writing my English essay. Even through most of it will go over my head.
Do NOT make it comic sans. If you imagine the different fonts as the voice it’s being spoken in comic sans would be a kindergarden teacher.
@Smab: An email received in Comic Sans is an automatic delete for me. Nothing of worth has every been typed in Comic Sans.
Could you release the final program you ended up with so we could have a go? Congrats on the pass also ;)
@Huggz:
Go wild
@Halfleft:
Urgh, learn to read the full comment, Halfie.
@Huggz: The full source is kinda complex and command-line only. If you still want it then I’ll happily put up a zip.
You should have used The Tak’s strategy and just put boobs on it.
Woulda got an A+++++++++++++++++++++++++
I’m not gonna read it, no offence.
But congrats on the degree mate!!!!!
As a student in a pre-engineering program, and someone described as a “quick learner” in the field of programming and robotics, I’m really interested in this. I would particularly like to see the source code for the simulation of the Blobs (I know you’ll never show me, nor would I understand it), and how you managed a decent algorithm for the evolutions/changes made to the Blobs.
The dissertation could have been subtitled “Cure for Insomnia” ;)
Well done Wardrox!
I understand this 100%
Well done.
I’m on page 21 and still clinging to the bit of understanding I have of this stuff.
I will be completely confused soon enough.
:O The link is broken
@Generic Purple Turtle: Fixed!
@John Kershaw: umm…. it’s going to a blank white page now :(
