Modern Warfare 2 Upsetting Some ISP’s
Looks like the hardcore fans on the PC aren’t the only ones upset about the switch to a peer to peer network infrastructure. ISP’s don’t seem to like the use of this system either.
Discovered on a post by a Modern Warfare 2 fansite, ISP’s are cracking down on PC gamers forced to host matches on their connection (rather than having a dedicated server do the hosting). This is apparently due to the possibility for users to send viruses to other users piggybacking on their connection to play the game. Though more likely due to the extra bandwidth hosting a game sucks up.
While I am not a huge PC gamer, having your internet connection terminated because of things out of your control is something no gamer should have to deal with. Hopefully this issue will get resolved soon, or Infinity Ward will adopt an “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” mentality towards multiplayer and finally add dedicated servers into the game.
