This is worth seven dollarsLet me explain.

During Sony’s endless attempted justification of the PSP Go’s existence, they revealed “PSP Minis”, which are basically iPhone games ported to work on their new handheld. After all, one of Sony’s greatest talents is taking something pioneered by another company and making money off of it.

Nevermind the fact that most of these games were designed completely with portability in mind, rumor has it that before Christmas you’ll be able to play them via the PS3 on your big-ass TV.

Why would Sony do this? These suckers cost five to ten dollars apiece. Playstation Network games usually cost between five and ten dollars, and are — in most cases — very much more worthy of your cash. Fieldrunners is a fine game, but let’s be honest — it’s no PixelJunk Monsters. If Sony makes this a reality, all they’re going to be doing is showing everyone how lackluster these things are in comparison to real games.

Ugh, think of the resolution on those things.
Either they’re made with tellys in mind, so they have a massive resolution and take up loads of space on your PSP,
Or they’ll be made for your Go’s screen, and will look like ass on your massive Hi-Def screen.

I dunno, doubling the PSP’s output would approach HD settings and probably give games a pleasingly “emulated 16-bit”-era sheen. Still, the majority of Minis are shit, so perhaps it’s quality control that actually needs a look rather than distribution methods.
