It seems that another company has noticed the lucrative business model employed by the folks over at Evony. You know, the one where you steal other people’s work and pass it off as your own. You may recognise the character in the advert to the left from a certain famous fighting game. There’s also another version of the advert here that contains none other than Kung-fu Panda.
Kingory is as you may have guessed another flash based RTS, though unlike Evony has been developed in China and seems to be appealing to the weeaboo inside us all rather than the pervert. I wonder if anyone at Kingory remembered to ask Dreamworks or Capcom for their permission to use the pictures or if it’s supposed to be a good faith sort of thing, Chun-Li and Po are Chinese after all.

Bitches gotta make a living!
The chinese are notorious for ripping off other peoples works of art for their games.
Right now, while World of Warcraft is having a really hard time keeping its servers up in in China, the Chinese company that used to hold the rights to running WoW in china, The9,is making a game that had artwork that looked very much like WoW artwork.
When they finally started showing more then the “preview site” with the bootlegged WoW artwork on it the images started looking much much much more like street fighter images. As in, the images were Capcom Images of Chun-li with the game being called “World of Fight”
Looking at the website now at http://www.wofchina.com , the game doesn’t seem to be any thing like either., Although I can’t really tell since I can’t read Chinese… Wait never mind, I had google translate the site and the first thing that caught my eye was “Famous Three Kingdoms”.. So who knows what it really plays like?
Any way, the thing is, no ones going to do any thing about it. Either they’re too afraid of the Chinese government, or the cost to fight it is so great in the long run that fighting it would actually be more of a loss then just letting them use the images. Either way, any Chinese company that decides to rip someone off pretty much gets their way and that’s pretty sad.
