Left 4 Dead Boycott Group Come to Their Senses

Pirate GabeIt seems that the members of the Left 4 Dead 2 boycott group have finally come to their senses and are planning to disband on October 21. The group’s 41,000 members will just have to find something else to complain about now that they believe that their goal has been accomplished. A group admin, Agent of Chaos, commented on the closure of the group:

Our goal wasn’t to steer people away from L4D2, it was to get Valve’s attention and have them support original L4D. We succeeded and that’s where our mission ends; nothing more or less.

In my mind I have always thought that this entire boycott idea was stupid [Editor's note: not all of us agreed]. Valve didn’t ever hint at dropping support for L4D just because they are working on a sequel. Combine this with the fact that Valve are one of the few developers that are widely renowned for providing excellent community support and game updates and the whole thing seems more of a farce than ever.

Possibly the worst thing to come out of the entire debacle is going to be the numerous other similar groups that will arise solely to try and get the same awesome treatment that has been bestowed upon the admins of the L4D2 boycott group. Who could possibly say no to being flown to the head offices of a games company to play unreleased games?

Lemme be the first of many to say CALLED IT! They still succeeded at nothing but being jerks about a great game and how they jumped the gun on Valve’s general business plan. Kinda sad that people will complain about the best things in their chosen pass time.
