Edited L4D2 Now Classified In Australia
Better yet, Valve have said that if the unedited version has a successful appeal, the game can be patched. Nothing like some free gore upgrades to brighten your day. Unless you’re on the Xbox, where Microsoft will probably call it a feature and tack on an extra $5 for fun.
Less than a day after Valve announced they were appealing the banning of Left 4 Dead 2 in forward thinking Australia, the classification page shows the game now has an MA 15+ rating. This isn’t because those in charge realised the error of their ways, instead simply reflecting the fact that a toned down version of the game has been given the green light.
Whether or not the full, damagingly violent gore-fest of an oh-my-god-my-child-is-a-murder game can be allowed in the country will be decided on the 22nd.
In other news; Anal Motor Bitches has been given an R18+ rating today (it’s a film, so that’s much better). The Thaw also got an R18+ rating today, a horror flick where Arctic bugs live in people’s skin and a guy cuts his own arm of in as scene which will, according to IGN, “induce panicked seat squirming”. Again, that’s a film not a game, so it’s fine.
That last paragraph was me trying to emphasise that Australia needs to give games 18+ ratings because this is getting ridiculous.

Yay! Oh wait, I’m in America. Still, Yay!
Why does this country suck?
I’m Australian:
There are soo many Adult gamers in Australia I’m 20 for example so why with the banning?
The edited version removed the following:
Decapitation, Disembowelment, dismemberment, wounds on players body and the blood splatter and dead bodies disappear with they hit the ground.
Now WTF??????
The Disembowelment I can understand, but the other reasons seriously WTF????
We have a lot of games with that, like Fallout 3 and Ninja Gaiden 2, with Ninja Gaiden 2 there is even Brain splatter on the walls, it’s non-stop brutal violence.
I’m not telling our government how to do their jobs but I am insulting them on what they do.
One more thing, Children play games as much as they watch movies, hell when I was a kid I saw Full Metal Jacket R18+ movie, so I don’t know what the government is thinking, kids all over Australia see movies that they shouldn’t so why ban the games?
