Win Far Too Much Stuff: Something To Do With Dinosaurs
After far too long it’s time to give away the mountain of stuff gathered from PAX last month. The rules are simple:
- Do “something to do with dinosaurs”
- Post it, or a link to it, in the comments to this post
- You must be registered and signed in when you post your comment
- You can enter as many times as you like
The winner will be chosen by our staff in about one week’s time. The winner will be “the most awesome thing to do with Dinosaurs”. Story, poem, photo, video, song etc. It’s up to you.
But this is all for nothing without the prizes: There is a first, second and third prize, as well as half a dozen runner up places. More than enough to go around. Also, this competition is open to anyone, anywhere. but if postage is like a billion pounds or something, you’re paying it.

So I tried to write a song on my ukulele for this competition, but I wasn’t happy with the recording quality of my inbuilt mic (or my ability to play). And so, I decided to forget the song and just lay down some words.
So here is a beat poem, for Wardrox, and about Wardrox.
(some of it rhymes, some of it doesn’t, but that’s what you get in a wicked-cool beat poem)

Let’s just say you had a time machine,
I know just what you’d do.
You’d go back and see the dinosaurs,
So here’s the tale of you.
So you’re back in time, amidst your dream.
The world is young, every plant so green.
The rolling plains, the vast expanse,
You gaze around, amazed.
You set out, across the plain,
Jungle to the side of you.
The roars of giants, the squawks of birds.
You make your way towards the valley before you.
You approach the crest, look down and see
An Iguanodon, grazing in the shade.
Your heart leaps with joy and you run down the slope,
Towards the fulfilment of your dream.
You approach with glee and shake it’s hand,
Saying hello, it bows its head.
You clamber aboard the magnificent beast,
And with a roar, it sets of at a run.
You cling on tight, the wind ruffling your shirt.
Your friend covers meters in a single bound.
The joy bursts forth, flowing from your heart.
There is only you and he, all else is naught.
You spend the day out in the sun,
But the sun does fall.
Your dino friend, says to you:
It is not safe out here at night.
You retire to his house,
A simple home of rock and earth.
Entering his drawing room,
He asks you of whence you came.
You say to him it is no matter,
The time you come from is too harsh.
You’d rather live with him forever,
Running round and eating grass.
You live a long time with your friend,
Spending days exploring the land.
You cross the pangaea upon your feet,
And then you come across some sand.
You have arrived at the ocean,
A sight your friend has never seen.
He thanks you for this wonderful life,
And in his eyes there is a gleam.
You cross the seas to India,
And live upon that ground.
Always together, happily,
Until your time does end.
