Sony Has Yet To Find Name For Motion Controller
Sony is in a bit of a bind. At TGS this year they showed off their new motion controller. But they have no idea what to name it just yet. The best they could come up with for the short-term is the “Wand Controller”. Great…
SCE Worldwide Studios’ Shuhei Yoshida said ‘œThere are several candidates for the name of the controller.’ Referencing older controllers, Yoshida said that ‘œthe SIXAXIS and the DualShock 3 ‘“ while great product names ‘“ are based on the actual tech’¦the name we pick for the Wand Controller maybe won’t be so techy.’ Sony wants to try and appeal to both the casual and core gamer (who doesn’t). By focusing less on the tech aspect, Sony hopes to wrangle in that coveted casual audience, but still needs to find a way to keep the core gamer interested.
Giving the controller a proper name that speaks to both camps might be difficult. So, I’ve decided to give Sony a hand. Here’s some names I came up with:
Notwiimote: Because it TOTALLY has NOTHING to do with the Wii in any way shape or form.
MoneySink 2000: Great use of your gaming development dollars, Sony.
Far-too-expensive Stick: Let’s be honest; it totally will be.
Motion: Simple. Sleek. Dumb. Right up Sony’s alley.
The Attention Grabber: At this point, Sony has become that kid from high school who was a cool guy in elementary school, got annoying in high school and started doing what everyone else was doing simply to get recognition.
