Codemasters Thinks You’re an Idiot
Love videogames? Love breasts? Of course you do, you’re a gamer. At least that’s what Codemasters think. With DIRT 2 close to release, Codies has started the PR train, and already it’s heading for a large ravine. They’ve released an oh so appropriate flash site, in which you get to tattoo text onto a woman’s breasts. The website, hilariously entitled ‘Dirty Tats’, asks you to ‘put your tattoo skills to the test’, then presenting you with a large pair of breasts, which even go up and down as the woman breathes. Attention to detail eh? Firstly, what the hell? I can see no link between DIRT and tattooing, never mind the breasts. It’s a racing game right? So unless you’re tattooing while you’re racing around a dirt trail, I can’t see it. Secondly, how bloody stupid does Codemasters think we are? “LOOK TITS, I BETTER BUY THIS GAME”.
Franky it’s insulting, it’s falling back on tactics that everybody uses because, “men like women in tight/no clothes”. You can scrawl whatever you like on the poor objectified woman, as shown hilariously above, but personally I’m getting freaking sick of game companies using such brain dead advertising tactics. Gamers are some of the hardest consumers to please, but we know a good game when we see one. Based on DIRT 1, two can’t be that bad. However, I will make that decision based on actually playing the game, not because I can draw on a pair of tits. Also, surely this is incredibly insulting to women who also happen to be gamers? Way to insult half the world Codemasters. This is the reason I write for this site (other than virtual coffee machine we’ve got), because as good as game companies are, they do unbelievably stupid things. All. The. Time.
To use an old internet meme:
1. Videogames.
2. Breasts.
3. ?????
4. Profit.
Yeah, stay classy Codemasters.

Brandon, wasn’t it Eric who was disgusted by the appearance of the women at that bordello than the actual idea that it was geared towards gamers?
Looking at the header pic I can’t help but think about lower back pain.
… What the FUCK Phil?
@Philbart999: Seriously, those be some big sweater puppies.
@Hawkeyed One: It’s been a long day obviously. I need to get my head straight. I apologise.
@Hawkeyed One: Well, the bordello issue wasn’t much of a problem in my eyes. Regardless of gamer based themes, the exact same thing happened that night just as any other would have. However, it’s sad that adds like this are still very effective in our current market. Lets hope publishers start getting some class soon so we don’t have to put up with selling sex in such a crude manner.
(Its gonna happen anyway so we might as well make it classy)
Okay… I thought that picture was the joke ad, but after clicking on the link I find myself rather depressed. :(
