Starcraft II to Sell Like Hotcakes (Thanks, Analysts!)

So the game of the decade, Starcraft II, is set to come out within the year (not counting the delays from balancing that will take place in beta). Online communities across the board are speculating about every facet of the game; Price Point, Storyline, and The Lack of LAN play. But, what do the professionals have to say about how it’s going to say?
Well, according to this article on gamasutra, Starcraft 2 is bound to sell pretty well, raise Activison Blizzard’s stock by a good bit, and maybe even be a contender for best selling game of the year. To which I have this to say: REALLY? NO WAY!
For the uninitiated, Starcraft is one of the best selling PC titles to date. Being the sequel to one of the biggest IPs of the last decade definitely gives you some headway on the competition, wouldn’t you think? The Gamasutra article talks more about the top-selling game of the year, and how Starcraft II and Modern Warfare 2 will affect Activision Blizzard’s stock, and what that means for the release window. Starcraft II isn’t even in beta yet, and with the year’s end coming closer and closer, analysts aren’t sure whether it will make the promised 2009 calendar year.
What do I, the uninformed and uneducated in the oh-so-fine art of videogames busines analysis blogger know? Well, with two of the hottest IPs on the market, I don’t think Activision Blizzard is going to have any problems. Starcraft II and Modern Warfare 2 are going to make gobs of money for this monster of a publisher, so I don’t think we ‘” or Activision Blizzard’s shareholders ‘” should worry too much about this. We’re going to get two awesome, moneymaking games, so just calm down, and let the developers make their games awesome, as we know they have in the past.

Currently, EA (ERTS) shares are trading for just under double what Activision (ATVI) are (according to NASDAQ). What I’d like to know is if Activision shares will rise nearer Chrsitmas to match or beat EA with their fairly sound line-up.
Although saying that, Activision are worth more than double EA.
Also, instead of all the business oriented ads expected on the Nasdaq EA page, there’s an ad for fucking Evony. It truly is the end of the world.
