Twilight MMO Announced
With so many other licensed IPs already having MMOs, ‘” Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Warcraft, the upcoming Marvel Universe game, and the list goes on… ‘” does this really surprise anyone? With modern mainstream authors getting film deals and merchandising, the most cash-whoring genre of video game is the most logical step forward for them, right?
Licensed games are nothing new. Since the days of the slowest of processors in home consoles, there have been licensed games. I guess people thought that the crossover into another medium would be a good idea, which is like taking Van Gogh’s Starry Night and making a sculpture out of it. It’s not be the same, at all, and doesn’t carry the same message or delivery, and incites different emotions than the painting. Twilight has also already made a terrible transition to film, does there really need to be mediocre (at best) game to compliment this steaming pile of cash whoring?
I’ve personally never read the books, but I have seen the film, which was terrible on its own. The actors all seemed distant and uninteresting, and the special effects were laughable at best. The game will most likely just be a WoW clone, drawing in all of the ‘tweens that LOVELOVELOVELOVE the Twilight series. And the depressing thing? It’ll probably at least break even.
But I’m just bitter from watching the terrible movie. I suppose that if this is what fans of the series really want, than they deserve it. No one really complained when they announced another Star Wars MMO, especially of the KOTOR vein, did they?

as much as i don`t like the way the vampires are handled in twilight, the MMO could start more sophisticated vampire MMOGs (thinking vampire: the maskerade here).
Millions of teenage girls will suddenly go missing, stuck at their computers.
Twilight MMO is unconfirmed, found to be simply a college student concept project.
You can put down the pitchforks.
NO! I want this game to be released. I mean, think about it. This game and its probable user base is just BEGGING to get trolled. Walk into the middle of a crowded area, and start quoting Brahm Stoker’s Drakula, and see what happens. Ask the fans of Twilight to explain the many bullshit things about vampires that hack author Stephanie Meyer made the fuck up. Ask them if they’ve imprinted on any five year olds lately (for fans of Jacob). The posibilities are endless.
@Hawkeyed One:
Regardless of how shitty the author is (and Meyer takes the fecal cake), isn’t all vampire information made up bullshit?
Think about it.
I see this as a good thing. With a movie tie-in game we can trap all the annoying Twilight fandom in one little spot on the internet seal them away. its good that the game will be just as terrible as the movie and they will have to like it anyway.
@Ryan “thef1sh†Wilson: Not unconfirmed, but as far as I can tell it’s an unofficial project, with no mention of the publisher/Author having any say in it.
@NoZart: I’m pretty sure that CCCP and Whitewolf have been working on a World of Darkness MMO for a while, which I’m somewhat excited about. Nothing has come out about it other than they’re working on it though =\
@Gibbo
Score!
@Ryan “thef1sh†Wilson: Technically that only applies to anything that doesn’t comply with Brahm Stoker cannon.
Fuck me, if my wife hears about this I’m fucked. I already can’t get her off the DS with Sudoku and the Brain Age Games. I’ll never see the PC again if this launches and she gives it half a try.
