Feminist Group Want More Breasts in Videogames
Speak to any hardcore feminist/exhibitionist and they’ll be more than happy to tell you about the evil double standard that exists in society whereby men can go topless but women can’t. Obviously the most important battlefield for this semi-nudist campaign is ours, the world of videogames. The organisation spearheading this campaign for public boobage GoTopless (site is NSFW by the way) recently emailed Kombo after an article about the increased level of sex and nudity in Dragon Age: Origins. The gist of that news was that there’s an in-game brothel where you could end up sleeping with pretty much anything from a man to a sheep. Naturally the most important thing about this leap forwards for sex in videogames is the fact that there are breasts.
Our organization claims that women have the constitutional right to go topless public in the name of gender equality and we are happy that video games are exploring that possibility, though we notice in the picture that the character’s hair is conveniently covering the ‘indecent’ nipple.
Oh yeah, I sure hate it when a character’s hair covers a nipple, you’d almost think there were organisations who can narrow the potential audience based on whether there’s a nipple or not. I understand it’s hard for groups like this to understand basic logic, but believe it or not some people don’t want to see boobs everywhere they go. Hell, I don’t particularly like seeing guys topless because I know exactly why they’re doing it. Nearly all the people who go topless whether they’re male or female do it for the same reason, they want to show off or shock people. It’s always super ripped guys and big boobed slutty girls I see going topless (or near enough) and I don’t want to see that really. So here’s a new idea, how about everyone keeps their tops on and we can work on treating women in videogames as something more than a pair of breasts.

To be honest, I’m 100% with this group. The only reason breasts in games are seen as special is because the average perceived gamer is some 12 year old male. We have breasts in films without people writing “LOL WUD TAP DAD FING WUTWUT” and for games to actually become “mature” we basically need it.
The push for equal rights for men and women is also a very fair issue to take with games. I too don’t want to see chest in every game, but if it’s going to be there, why hold on to archaic and chauvinistic ideas.
Also, looking at their site it hardly seem games are their main target :)
Fun fact: here in austria some feminist groups make some noise about how women are objectified in the Conan MMO because you can strip your female avatar of the upper armor and see naked breasts. (which nobody actually does, because no armor is somehow bad in a world of naked un-objectified barbarians)
Then you get another feminist group saying “MOAR TITS IN GAMES!!!”
Which brings back the old saying: Never disagree with a feminist. Just wait 5 minutes and she will do that herself.
Plus, i do not really believe that naked breasts or something like that do anything for equality.
Exploring how female enjoyment works and build gaming concepts around that would do way more. But that will just never happen, because it means actual work and/or investment.
