Band Hero DS Includes Drum Peripheral
Activision’s Band Hero website has some information about the game. As well as a contest to have your photo used as a mosaic on the gamebox and win the game itself, the site also reveals that the game will have a “drum skin” peripheral as well as the guitar one used in the Guitar Hero on Tour game.
What? How does that even make sense? I fail to see how a drum peripheral could work on a DS game DS lite game (there’s a difference now remember, no GBA slot on a DSi).
I literally know no one who has bought any of the DS Guitar Hero games. Literally not one person. There’s a reason for this: You look like a fool when you play it, so the only logical place to play it is at home. But then we hit another problem. If you’re in your home you’re going to play on your consoles, with real fake guitars and real fake drums not shoddy, cut down fake fake guitars.
Thinking about it sensibly the name “skin” (as guessed by joystiq) seems to indicate that it’s going to be a touch-screen overlay. Meaning that the drum section of Band Hero amounts to a mix between Elite Beat Agents, Rhythm Heaven, and Rock Band (that or they’ll give you tiny drumsticks to remove what little dignity you had left). The DS is a portable system for portable games. Band Hero and indeed the Guitar Hero on Tour games don’t strike me as very travel-friendly games. Have you ever seen anyone strumming away on the bus? Of course not. They’d look stupid.

Does your pic have a subtle reference to The Replacements?
If so, Bravo. If not, you suuuuck.
I recently came across your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I don’t know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading. Nice blog. I will keep visiting this blog very often.
