Forza Fans Get a Free Car, GT Fans Told to Shut Up

Totally reliable and unbiased news source CNet are running a little poll: Forza 3 vs. Gran Turismo 5. A harmless enough thing for a website to do.

What makes this story amusing is that Forza, via their forums, are giving away free in-game cars to anybody who votes. Whereas on the Playstation based GT forums, any thread that tries to discuss the matter is being promptly locked. The mod who locked one of the threads points to the official Playstation forum user guide which says threads relating to other platforms may be locked for being off topic.

In all actuality this poll is insignificant and won’t alter anything of any importance. Still, I find it interesting how the two approaches to community interaction operate. One group have embraced the poll and are using it to strengthen their community, the other are shunning all mention of it to avert possible flame wars. Either way, we all know that Ridge Racer is far superior to both titles.
