Pre-order inFamous, get… a demo EARLY!

inFamous is now coming in May rather than June, but along with the good news comes the usual bullshit.
If you decide to pre-order you will get a early access to a demo on May 7. Yes, that’s right. Put your money down to see if you like the game or not. As another bonus, you will also get access to an in game power named “Gigawatt Blades” as described in the Playstation Blog as:
An exclusive ‘˜Gigawatt Blades’ Super Power: The Gigawatt Blades supercharges Cole’s arm into an instrument of destruction unmatched by any other melee weapon in game. Although very powerful, you’ll still have to use this weapon wisely, as it takes a considerable drain on your powers.
Ok, so the power-up is decent, but for a pre-order it’s not very much. A physical item would have been much cooler to go with the game. The skill looks to have a drawback, so you’re not going to be missing out if you skip the pre-order.
The third “bonus” you’ll be given:
Limited-edition inFamous costume for Home Avatar – Look like one of the REAPER gang members.
Oh, boy. I do know how much I love Home, considering I haven’t even installed it.
Sane people will get a chance to download the demo come May 21, and the game will be out on the 26. inFamous is shaping up to be one of the killer exclusive titles for the PS3 this year, hopefully the demo is worth what the diehards are paying for it.

The other things aren’t all that good but I actually kinda like the idea of getting a demo early for preordering. It gives a reward to those who really want the game. And they release it to everyone later so it is not like they are depriving anyone of anything.
Companies don’t seem to grasp that a demo is an opportunity to make me want to buy your game, and not the other way around. It’s like asking people to pay for exclusive access to adverts.
This trend of pre ordering to get demos is beginning to piss me off, although I guess it’s the only way companies can make money of demos now that demo discs are pretty much dead in the water.
I must of completely missed this some how..
The game,I mean.
I never will understand why people like physical items that come with a pre-order. its cheaply made crap that turns into junk shortly and either moves to the back of your closet or into the trash.
getting a demo from a pre-order is bad practice and will be useless when the game comes out.
In game items are the best bet at least you get to enhance your game experience. as for a home out fit, well its something, I like rolling around in my limited edition helghast outfit when I’m checking out new stuff in Home.
Pretty much already been said, but this is absolutely stupid. Buy the game to get a demo of the game? What if you don’t like the demo?
Also isn’t this the rubbish one? The good one is prototype, innit?
And multiplayer beta for Drake 2. Thats a sure killer. lol
