The Top 3 Glitches In Gears 2 That Douches Use And How You Can Fight Them

I made this picture a while ago when I was ill and taking a lot of medication. Isn\'t it awesome? - John

Let’s get this out of the way now. There will always be glitches in games. No matter how much work a developer puts into the game to get rid of them, they will always get out. Don’t be discouraged though fellow gamer, all of these glitches can be beaten. It doesn’t hurt that the only people who would need to glitch are those who are naturally awful at the game they are playing. The worst case scenario is that someone who is terrible at the game uses a glitch to beat you just because you are better at the game than them. If a glitcher beats you at a game don’t worry, you can still walk away knowing that you’re a better person than them.

For the more spiteful among us I present this article to show the three most common glitches used in Gears of War 2 and how you can fight them. None of these glitches will cause you to lose the game. They can all be gotten around and can all be defeated. The important thing to remember is how to behave when you see someone glitching. Typically I see two types of behavior. First there are the people who go ‘œI don’t have to deal with this BAWWWWW’ and they quit. The other reaction is someone seeing a glitcher, pulling out a shotgun, screaming ‘œYou son of a bitch!’ louder than any human should scream, and running towards them.

The first reaction is wrong because it means you’ve let the glitcher win. Now he knows that if he keeps this up people will keep quitting and he can move up in rank. Thank you for being part of the problem. The second reaction is wrong because you will die. You’re dying results in him getting points, then you get frustrated and do the same thing again, and the cycle repeats. The correct response is to see what the glitcher is doing and develop a strategy to beat him. That’s right, strategy. Gears of War 2 is a team game. The multiplayer consists of small 5 on 5 matches so that people can coordinate. So with a spiteful spirit let’s begin.

Glitchy McGlitch face.

This won’t end well for him.

3. Glitching on River
You will most commonly come across people using this glitch in Guardian on river. Whoever the leader is will usually run into their sniper/torque bow building and glitch themselves into the area shown above. Usually you cannot shoot them and they cannot shoot you. The bad news for him is that once he is inside that area, the only way out is through death. The bad news for you is that there is only one way to kill him’¦the ink grenade. If his team-mates know what the glitcher is doing, they will likely pick up the ink grenades as fast as possible. If you didn’t grab the ink grenade when you spawned, get on your mic and find out who did. Have whoever has the ink grenade throw it just to the right of that machine and it will bounce back into the area the glitcher is in. There is no way for him to survive it. You have won.

2. The Shield Glitch
In a previous article I went over this glitch but since then I have learned that the glitch can be done with absolutely no help from any grenades or anything specific. Unfortunately, if someone on the opposing team knows this glitch, there is no way to keep them from doing it other than getting to the boomshield first. Even then they can always use a meatshield. If you find yourself face to face with an opponent who has a shield and a boomshot’¦run. That’s right, take your muscle bound one-liner spewing character and haul ass the opposite way.

If you have at least one other teammate still alive, tell him what the guy is doing and sandwich him. You distract him while the other guy chainsaws him in the back or pops his head with the sniper rifle. If you’re the last one alive then the strategy is a bit different. Having a shield and a shotgun isn’t as good as it sounds. The shotgun is a deadly close range weapon for sure, but at long ranges it might as well be shooting confetti. Obviously you’re going to want something long range. A mortar would do nicely but it makes you too slow. If you’re a crack shot with the sniper rifle then you already know what to do. For the rest of us, the best tools to use are the frag grenades, the torque bow and the boomshot. The strategy for all of these is the same. Aim just behind the glitcher and that’ll be the end of him. You could also plant the grenade and try to lead him into it if you’d like. If the glitcher is smart he’s always going to be facing you, this is what makes almost every other weapon useless. With these three explosive weapons, the splash damage is strong enough to kill him even if you hit the ground behind him.

What a douche.

This is not what Epic intended.

1.Standbying
Sadly there is absolutely nothing you can do to stop people from standbying. You will know when someone is standbying when the game is laggy to the point that you yourself aren’t moving your character. Don’t quit the game. Chances are that this standbying bastard has been doing this all night and is just climbing the ranks by making everyone else so frustrated that the quit. You’ll be able to tell who is actually doing the standbying by looking at the score after the first round. That guy who has all the kills? That’s him. Just last night I got into a match with a standbyer. By the end of nine rounds he had 18 kills in comparison to everyone else’s 3 or 4. He swore up and down he wasn’t standbying but can you guess what round was the laggiest? The ninth round that saw him lose the game. Standbyers can be beaten but it’s definitely the most frustrating cheat to have to deal with. I still say don’t quit because if you win, you will experience the feeling that only comes from overcoming some form of evil.

The first step to beating a team that is standbying is to kill the person who is actually doing it. He’s the only one who can play without lagging everywhere and will kill your entire team if everyone doesn’t go for him at once. When the game starts do not switch weapons. The game is too laggy for shotguns to do any damage. In fact, if you do switch to them you’ll find that you have unlimited ammo. That isn’t because you’re a genius or you’ve discovered some glitch, it’s because your gun isn’t shooting anything. Stick with your chainsaw. Once the standbyer is dead, wait for the team to come to you. When they arrive you’re going to want to spend your time rolling around on the ground and revving your chainsaw. I didn’t say this was going to involve drawing out a diagram or strategizing for hours beforehand, I just said you would win. It is extremely hard to hit people when they are lagging and rolling around. When your enemies get in close, just rev your saw until it catches. The most important thing to keep in mind when doing this is to keep your team close. If four or five people are revving their saws around one or two opponents, who’s saws are most likely to grab a hold of someone? Exactly.

I hope this helps out some people who have to deal with these glitches. I’m sad to say that it’s most likely going to get worse before it gets better. I didn’t give any instructions or hints on how to do these glitches, but knowing how easy they are to do makes me think its only a matter of time before learning to do these glitches will be the only way to survive. That is when I’ll move on to another game. Epic needs to step up and fix these bugs. Other than standbying they could all be fixed with one very simple change.

It’s worth noting that both the shield and wall glitches can be done accidentally. I’ve had both happen to me without meaning to and both times I received some pretty nasty messages. A guy in the game that the shield glitch happened is hell bent on getting Microsoft to ban me for it. The point is when you see someone do this, don’t overreact. They can all be beaten. Now if the person is obviously abusing these and doing them on purpose round after round, feel free to focus your in-game rage on them but try and keep in mind that it’s a game. They do it because they can’t win any other way and you beat them because you’re better than them.

I hope epic dose something about the glitches and not ignore it like they did with the Gears 1 glitches, some of my friends haven’t bought the game because they wanna wait until the glitches are gone , and i bet this has also made other gamers hold out on buying this game.

Epic ruined gears 2.

@ Epic – EAT SHIT AND DIE!

Very nice article, and helpful at that!

Genfuyung Says:

Thanks Phantom. If things continue to get worse in the game and more glitches are discovered I’ll keep posting things like this to help people out.

Hey, nice article. That was a good read, good stuff guys.

I made a post about this over at GamertagRadio.com

Thank you so much for this detailed informations.

No wonder I see those fools with a boomer+shield.

By the way you missed a most common glitch. When a fool uses a shotgun, docks, shoots and walks slow at the same time. If you trying hurting him, it does little damage, no matter how close you are. How do you beat this freaking glitch? Every time I see people do it on me, I always file a complaint for cheating.

“This is not what Epic intended.” LOL.

I’ll keep an eye for the standbying:/

blankvoid Says:

Epic ruined Gears 2? Epic made Gears 2; how can they ruin something they made? They wanted the game to be in some part this way. Not saying they put the glitching in, but the game is how they wanted it to be.

You cant blame them for not hitting three buttons at once so you can use any weapon while wielding a shield.

Genfuyung Says:

xin0 I haven’t seen the glitch you are talking about. It sounds like a slow crabwalk. Just from what your saying I’d say to distract him while someone chainsaws him from behind or use an explosive weapon on him if you are alone.

blankvoid, I don’t think epic ruined gears 2 but they need to do some post release work. There’s no doubt that the game is NOT how they want it to be. They do not want people glitching in their game. No game company that puts tons of work into balancing gameplay likes to see these idiots cheat the system. Go to the Epic, Bungie, or Infinity Ward forums and get one of the developers to say that they like cheating in their games and I will post a formal apology to all glitchers on the front page of this site.
