How to Be a Far Cry 2 Host

Over the past week I’ve been very much enjoying Far Cry 2. Recently, I’ve started playing online and have noticed that the people hosting matches tend to be following a simple set of rules. Sadly, some people don’t seem to understand these unwritten steps to being a good host. To help them out, I’ve listed a few of the basic rules below.

Take as long as you can in the lobby.

It’s your game, so make sure to take as long as you can in the lobby. Even if every other player is set and ready to go, make sure you wait just that bit longer. Maybe make yourself a sandwich.

Hosting a game just to boost your own stats is fine.

No point in wasting your precious resources being a server if you don’t get the benefits right? Need to boost your sniping stats? You can when you’re the host! Simply pick a tactical game type which has players gathering in a specific spot, then sit in a corner sniping.

If you’re losing, always cut the game short.

When you’re the host, it’s your job to determine when everybody has had enough fun. Losing a game isn’t fun, so for the sake of your team make sure to cut the game short. That way it’s a draw and everybody wins. To make sure everybody gets the maximum amount of fun, only end the game in the very last minuet. For example, if you’re playing and losing a 15 minuet team deathmatch, disconnect at around the 14:30 mark.

Everybody wants to be your friend, so let them.

Most likely because you’re awesome, in the lobby a lot of people will want to switch teams so they are on your side. This will probably unbalance the teams, but don’t let that worry you. The other team, who are rather unfavourably outnumbered, by not changing teams, show they hate you and so deserve to be defeated.

Never start a game unless the teams are balanced (in your favour).

If, for some reason, the other team has more experienced people on, whatever you do don’t start the game. Remember, you’re the host, so you should get the best people. Just keep trying to shuffle the teams. If people try and stop you, just quit.

Remember, people respect a good host, so make sure to folow these simple guidelines.

There is another rule which is as follows:

Always kick a player who is beating you.

As the host, you are the Alpha male, the pack leader. Should someone challenge your claim to power by actually being better than you, be sure to ruin their credibility by accusing them of cheating, then show your power by kicking them from the game. That’s what good leaders do.
