Gamecock Bought By SouthPeak Games
Previously independent publishers Gamecock Media Group have now been acquired by SouthPeak Games, according to a press release issued earlier today.
As Melanie Mroz, CEO of SouthPeak, explains; having a parent company should help Gamecock continue their strong growth and allow their games to reach a wider audience.
Gamecock brings us a solid slate of upcoming titles, including Legendary, Mushroom Men and Velvet Assassin and supports our strategy of working with independent developers. We are excited to give the Gamecock titles a bigger platform to succeed.
Mike Wilson, CEO of Gamecock, echoed the sentiment.
We are thrilled to be joining forces with SouthPeak to continue to bring great original titles from independent developers to market with a stronger sales and distribution reach. We have followed each other’s progress closely over the last two years, and combining our team with theirs results in a very strong and well-rounded force in the market.
Gamecock, who made a rather loud entrance to the gaming world last year and who have been no strangers to controversy, have always been very proud to be indie. SouthPeak have a history for working with independent studios and after raising more than $12million earlier this year, have had the money to spend.
With Gamecock’s biggest titles due to be released over the next few months and a recent move into Europe, it’s no wonder SouthPeak were interested.
To be honest, as long as they keep making awesome socks and keep wearing the costumes, I don’t mind too much.

This should be a good thing. More money for epic productions.
