Wii Lightsaber attachment multiplies the chances of breaking your TV by 1000

Ok, so I made that up off the top of my head. However, taking a look at the thing I can’t help feeling that it might be true.

Now I really hate the amount of silly gun-tennis racket-wheel-toaster attachments have been made for the Wiimote, but this one has some potential not to suck. This Wii lightsaber attachment is going to be most useful for the November 11 release of The Clone Wars: Lightsaber Duels. The Wii remote goes in the handle and as you can see, uses a blue LED to light up your beam sword of justice.

The idea is a pretty cool one, but I don’t think it was well designed. Unless the motion sensing in the game is very good, you’ll probably need some help from The Force to make this thing work properly. It takes 2 AA batteries to power the light and the “vvvm vvvm” noises. The “beam” of the lightsaber has been shortened (the whole deal is only about 22″) which will probably make you look and feel a bit stupid swinging it around. It is however a cheaper and simpler alternative to the DIY versions that I suspect will be popping up all over the internet after the game is released. Although inevitably, you’ll end up sending this thing through your TV or merely beating your friends over the head with it mercilessly screaming, “How do you like The Force now, bitch?”
