Where Has All The Leisurely News Gone?

I enjoy reading about videogames, and I enjoy reading all the news and the gossip. Sites like Destructoid, Ripten and to a degree, Kotaku are my staple diet. With the non-blog, larger sites like IGN, providing me with a little more fibre.

But why do all these sites seem in such a rush? I know we all use internet-time, so after an hour something is “old news”, but what about us few who just want to relax. If I find something about MGS 4, I would probably like to have a read, maybe chat with somebody, and follow it for a day or so.

Sadly, this is all but impossible in the ever-accelerating gaming press. Every little thing seems to be news, pushed to the front as fast as possible and replaced after a matter of seconds with more news.

If you do run a blog, and aspire to have 30 posts per day. Please have a think about “why”. Sadly, for most people it’s simply a financial decision. If a post gets 2,000 views, and you can double your output, you can double your revenue.

If you are going for the 30-posts-per-day, at least find a way to sort through your own stuff. I don’t want to have to scroll through 5 pages of needless crap to find something I actually care about.

Maybe at my ripe old age of 21, I’m just too old for all of this.
