GRiD on the 360 Broken?
Could it be that Codemaster’s newest title is broken on a large number of 360 consoles? Apparently so. Complaints are arriving at the Codemaster’s forums from a lot of users reporting that the game continually freezes or stutters whilst racing.
The advice from Codies for those suffering from the bug is to remove the hard drive from the 360 and play using a gamertag stored on a memory card.
We’re close to getting to the root of the problem and we will be including a fix and a backup workaround option (just in case) in our forthcoming patch due within the next few weeks or sooner. We think the issue is due to specific drive hardware, possibly with bad blocks /sectors.
The best temporary measure is to copy your gamertag to a mem card, remove the hard drive and run the game that way. Replays and caching will be disabled, though instant replay will still work as this caches to memory.
I almost feel sorry for them, having to deal with the dozens of different console revisions both the 360 and the PS3 have, as well as the crap rushed unreliable hardware plaguing the 360. Then again, other games don’t seem to suffer from this problem.
